FenestraPro is a design software which enables architects and other building designers to create environmentally efficient buildings more cost effectively within Building Information Modeling (BIM) workflows.
Early stage conceptual design is usually driven by aesthetic considerations alone. While energy performance and environmental impact are considered a high priority, they are not typically quantiﬁed until later in the process.
Reading from the conceptual mass model at the earliest point in the design process and using graphical and simpliﬁed inputs, FenestraPro optimizes the thermal, solar and daylighting requirements of the façade. It also provides a detailed understanding of how key façade design decisions affect the building’s energy performance.
The key design parameters established (using FenestraPro for optimal performance) are then written back to the conceptual mass model automatically generating design alternatives.
By establishing the optimized environmental performance characteristics of the façade early in the design process, the need to compromise the aesthetic concept by redesigning will be eliminated. This provides the architect with the information needed to maintain control over their intended aesthetic.
